The Auchentoshan 1962 will retail at £1,200 per bottle, and will be introduced to duty free in Cannes |
UK. Lowland single malt Auchentoshan has launched what it claims to be the oldest and most expensive Lowland malt whisky ever produced.
The Auchentoshan 1962 will retail at £1,200 (US$2,160) per bottle, and will be introduced to duty free at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.
Only 104 bottles of this spirit will be sold around the world.
Auchentoshan Director of Duty Free James Bewsher said: “Auchentoshan is the world’s number one Lowland single malt. It is therefore entirely fitting that this incredibly special – and incredibly rare – spirit is launched for global duty free at Cannes, among the world’s most renowned luxury brands.”
The launch follows Auchentoshan’s success at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition earlier this year, when the distillery won a Gold and Double Gold for two of its whiskies.
This was followed by Auchentoshan’s achievement in the Scottish Field Whisky Merchants Challenge, where its 29yo scored the highest mark ever recorded in the history of the competition.
