Ballantine’s unveils first of four 17yo Signature Distillery Editions

Pernod Ricard Travel Retail is launching the new Ballantine’s Glenburgie Edition throughout Europe and Asia travel retail this month – the first of four Ballantine’s 17yo Signature Distillery Editions, specially created by Master Blender Sandy Hyslop.

The remaining three editions – Scapa, Miltonduff and Glentauches – are set to follow over the next three years. Each of the blended whiskies has been created to convey the individual flavours and style of each distillery.

Located in Speyside and surrounded by temperate and fertile terrain, Glenburgie distillery produces a fruity, floral and rich-flavoured malt that sits at the heart of the original Ballantine’s 17yo. These characteristics infuse Ballantine’s 17yo with aromas of apples, blackcurrants and a honeycomb sweetness.

Available in a strictly limited quantity, the Glenburgie Edition – presented below in our unique Moodie Magnifier – will be launched with support from a major publicity campaign. The bottle will be highly visible to potential consumers through its display in an eye-catching glorifier and via targeted advertorials. Consumer leaflets will be distributed within airports to encourage travellers to visit stores where the product will be available.

Ballantine’s 17yo Signature Distillery Glenburgie Edition (43% abv) has a recommended sale price of US$69 in Asia duty free and +15% above regular Ballantine’s 17yo in Europe travel retail.

Ballantine’s Brand Director Peter Moore commented: “The Glenburgie edition is the ideal choice for travellers who want to experience Ballantine’s legendary “˜art of blending’ and explore Ballantine’s 17yo at a deeper level. Expanding on the unique quality consumers expect from the brand, this whisky will be the perfect addition to any connoisseur’s collection.”

Ballantine’s Master Blender Sandy Hyslop said: “Ballantine’s 17yo is a blend of more than 40 different malt and grain whiskies from all over Scotland. Glenburgie has played a central role for many generations of Ballantine’s master blenders. This stunning limited edition offers the whisky drinker a unique insight to the role that Glenburgie malt plays in the original and much-celebrated Ballantine’s 17yo blend and an insight into the art of blending.”
