ESTONIA. The Baltic and East European Travel-Retail conference concludes today after a stimulating first session, attended by well over 150 delegates.
A source close to organiser Raven Fox said the event – which is examining a range of issues including EU expansion, airport development, pricing and tourism prospects – had drawn several of the region’s biggest operators.
Yesterday’s keynote address was entitled “EU Enlargement and its Implications for Business, Tourism and Duty-Free” and was presented by John Kjaer, Head of Delegation, European Commission to Estonia.
This morning’s session includes a World Tourism Organization address on travel prospects for Central & Eastern Europe; and a panel discussion on the abolition of intra-EU duty free post-accession. Delegates will also hear about the “Psychology of the Eastern European Consumer”.
