NORWAY. Leading Norwegian catering company Blender AS has been awarded a seven-year contract to operate all catering at Bodø Airport. The deal is estimated to be worth NOK200 million (US$32.8 million),
Blender will operate a new dining concept called Food Factory, a Peppes Pizza outlet, and a new pub concept called Brygghuset.
Blender Director Travel & Restaurants Ronny Gjøse said he was pleased to have won the “demanding, highly competitive” tender, beating several other companies.
Gjøse said: “The airport is undergoing some remodelling and the new catering units will be in the red zone, after security control. This is where passengers want to be, and they will now have a good, wide range of food & beverage available after security control.”
Food Factory, at 337sq m and with around 200 seats, will focus on “good, hearty food” including pastries, sandwiches and hot meals made from seasonal ingredients.
Peppes Pizza, the largest pizza restaurant chain in Scandinavia, will form part of Food Factory selling freshly made pizza.
“Peppes will complement Food Factory nicely since it provides food for people on the go and is known for its superior quality, which we are sure passengers will greatly appreciate,” said Gjøse. “We have offered Bodø Airport some of Blender’s newest concepts. Food Factory is a new, comprehensive catering concept that will be specifically tailored to Bodø Airport. We have worked on the design, content and concept for almost two years.”

Brygghuset, at 81sq m and seating around 70 customers, is a new “sharper” pub concept that Blender said will be an “unpretentious, cosy pub where everyone will feel at home”. Brygghuset will specialise in local beer, as well as classic international brands.
It will also offer an appropriate selection of wines and spirits. The food menu will feature classic pub food such as fish & chips and burgers.
The catering company said: “Brygghuset will be a local pub with a modern, fresh feel. The emphasis will be on an inviting, varied interior that makes passengers feel at home. Brygghuset will probably become the favourite pub for a number of Bodø Airport’s passengers.”
Gjøse added: “We are glad we will be able to offer such a variety with freshly made pizzas from Peppes, exciting food from good chefs in Food Factory, and great beverages in the cosy, pleasant atmosphere of Brygghuset. This will provide a wide-ranging, comprehensive portfolio and we look forward to realising this in the autumn.”
