British Airways reinstates full Hong Kong service

UK. At last some good news for Hong Kong’s beleaguered travel industry. From 25 June British Airways (BA) will once again be operating two round trips a day between London Heathrow airport and Hong Kong International.

The move follows the lifting of the World Health Organisation’s travel advisory against Hong Kong. When the advisory was first issued, at the peak of the SARS outbreak, BA reduced its service to a single daily flight.

Both China and Hong Kong finally seem to have the epidemic under control. Since 6 June, China has reported just one new probable case of SARS – as has Hong Kong. Worldwide there have been 8,421 cases with 784 deaths.
