Bushmills Malt Select Casks is the brand’s first commercial 12yo reference and a travel retail exclusive |
UK. The Old Bushmills Distillery, part of the Pernod Ricard group, has launched Bushmills Malt Select Casks – the brand’s first commercial 12yo reference and a travel retail exclusive.
The Select Casks product is made with traditional triple-distilled single malt whisky fully aged in Caribbean rum casks. The whisky is then married with single malt that has been double-wood matured in American Bourbon barrels and Spanish sherry casks. The influence of all three cask types gives an intriguing and complex taste but within keeping of the overall Bushmills house style, says the firm.
The product was devised after Bushmills identified a gap in its offer both in age and by price point. It also wanted to replace its successful Bushmills 1608 travel retail exclusive now out of production.
Select Casks is aimed at the premium spirits drinker and retails at £25.99 (€34.99). The price point is said to allow a natural progression from the Bushmills 10yo single malt two-wood matured expression, and offers an entry into the brand’s three-wood matured lines.
Bushmills Malt Select Casks is being rolled out now, initially in World Duty Free and Aelia outlets and at Kiev, St Petersburg and Moscow airports. Later it will be rolled out to other markets throughout the year. The aim is to sell the product in major international hubs.
