Chanel opens new two-storey boutique at Hong Kong International Airport

Chanel’s double-height boutique is one of the central features of the luxury zone at HKIA

HONG KONG. Chanel has opened its new 4,500sq ft, two-storey boutique at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

The stand-alone boutique is located in the heart of HKIA’s main Departure Hall, accessible to international outbound and transit passengers from both levels of the Terminal 1 departures zone.

As with all Chanel boutiques worldwide, the new shop is designed by New York-based architect Peter Marino.

Chanel said: “The distinctive white façade, punctuated with LED stripes, is boldly contrasted with a black stone wall. A dramatic double-height open space is created to reveal the internal white marble staircase and a site-specific artwork by Johan Creten”. Titled “˜The Big Glory’, the over two metre-wide oval shaped gold ceramic sculpture is set against the black stone wall.” A series of well-lit spacious windows on the exterior showcase Karl Lagerfeld’s latest creations, the brand owner added.

The watch and fine jewellery section displays an edited selection from the J12, Première and Mademoiselle Privé watch collections, as well as fine jewellery pieces from the Ultra, Camélia and Plume collections.

The second floor houses the ready-to-wear and shoe “salons”. A specially commissioned serigraph by German artist Heinz Mack is a feature of one of the VIP changing rooms.

Chanel said the store represents “a bright, modern and sophisticated shopping environment” at HKIA.
