CONFECTIONERY: Guylian unveils tempting new creations – CANNES LAUNCH

BELGIUM. Located at stand P10 in the Mediterranean Village at the TFWA World Exhibition, Chocolatier Guylian will present a range of new chocolate creations specifically developed for the travel retail and duty free markets.

Known worldwide for its original Belgian Chocolate Sea Shells, Guylian is working the successful formula into new and exclusive packaging in order to exploit the gift oriented travel retail confectionery market.

Guylian Les Exclusives is an exclusive offer of the three best selling Guylian chocolates in one gift box: Guylian’s famous Chocolate Sea Shells, La Trufflina – a creamy truffle encased in Belgian chocolate and covered with delicious flakes of finest white, milk and dark chocolate, and Opus – the Belgian chocolates assortment with eight different tastes, from the mocha cream to the orange cream surprise.

This octagonal shaped box of 325g is specially designed to support the premium image and is already listed in airports in the Netherlands, the UK, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

Recommended travel retail price is €8 to €10 (US$8.90 to US$11.10) per unit.

Guylian Le Gourmet is a 225g assortment of Guylian’s original Chocolate Sea Shells and Opus, a collection of eight different chocolates each associated with a classical opera.

Le Gourmet is listed in UK airports and Brussels Airport has begun selling Le Gourmet in a multi-pack offer of 3 x 225g.

Recommended travel retail price is €4 to €5 (US$4.45 to US$5.55) per unit.

La Trufflina 300g deluxe Ballotin is a hand wrapped 300g gift pack exclusively designed for travel retail. Based on the success of La Trufflina in domestic markets, Guylian has created a new ballotin with a luxurious gold printing to optimize impulse sales opportunities in the gifting sector.

La Trufflina is a smooth creamy truffle enrobed with white, milk or dark Belgian chocolate and sprinkled with delicious chocolate flakes. Its recommended retail price is €11 to €14 (US$12.20 to US$15.55) per unit.

The Guylian Praliné Cream Liqueur, which combines alcohol, fresh cream and the famous Guylian hazelnut praline aroma, is available in an exclusive gift set for travel retail alongside the famous Guylian chocolate Sea Shells, in a move to attract new and younger trend-setting consumers.

The original seahorse shape of the bottle (70cl) and the free 125g Chocolate Sea Shells make this package an original gift.

Test markets have been proven successful from April till September 2003 on UK/France ferries as well as in Brussels Airport and in Portuguese airports. During July the Guylian Praliné Cream Liqueur was the second best selling liqueur brand in the Belgian ranking.

The gift pack recommended retail price is €20 to €24 (US$22.20 to US$26.70) per unit.

Finally, in response to the growing importance of self-consumption to the travel retail confectionery category, Guylian is unveiling its Sea Shell Bar (40g) at Cannes, made with the original Guylian hazelnut praliné filling.

The Guylian Sea Shell Bar is available in a promotional multi-pack of 12 bars (buy 10 and get two free). The recommended retail price for the 12 pack is €6 per sales unit

The Guylian Chocolate Bar (200g) is available in five different flavours: milk, milk with whole hazelnuts, dark, dark with whole hazelnuts and milk with whole hazelnuts and raisins. In travel retail, the Guylian Chocolate Bar is either packaged in three bar packs of one flavour or by five bar packs containing all five flavours.
