FINLAND. Helsinki Airport is set to boost its passenger experience with the opening of 17 new restaurants, cafés and stores across this summer and autumn. The new venues will add 3,000sq m of space to the airport’s commercial offer.
Ten new restaurants and cafés will open in the summer. The restaurants include Asian Kitchen, Bastard Burgers, Fafa’s (a Finnish, mainly vegetarian eatery), Pala Pizza Bar and Subway 24/7.
These will be complemented by five new cafés: Kaffet Bakery, Robert’s Coffee and Starbucks, and Finnish venues Toastery Café & Bar and Tori Kitchen & Café.

Meanwhile, the Oak Barrel pub and restaurant, a staple of the Helsinki Airport F&B scene, is increasing its seating capacity and expanding its menu this summer.
In the autumn, seven new shops will open. They include Ruohonjuuri (eco-friendly products), Moomin Shop, Kankurin Tupa’s year-round Christmas shop and souvenir store Finspiration, Via Minnet (jewellery), Relove (selling pre-owned goods) and a combined store from international brands Boss and Ralph Lauren.

Most of the eateries and shops will be located in the new service and meeting area at Helsinki Airport, which is currently being built on the former departures hall site. This project will be the culmination of Finavia’s ten-year investment programme, which will end in the autumn.
Finavia VP and Director of the Commercial Services Business Unit at Helsinki Airport Nora Immonen said: “Now there is an even better reason to arrive at the airport early and enjoy the international atmosphere and Finnish experiences. The revamping of Helsinki Airport spotlights Finnish work and expertise, as the majority of the services to be opened are Finnish.”
The new openings will create about 170 new jobs at the airport.
