FLIO named among the best new Apps listed on the App Store home page

UK. Newly-launched airport App FLIO has been featured on Apple’s App Store home page as one of its ‘Best New Apps’.

The free App, described as the first global airport App, is available for Apple’s iPhone and other iOS devices and launched on 4 August.

FLIO, which give users instant, one-click access to airport Wi-Fi among its features, has also appeared in a number of recommended new App lists across the internet, including in UK newspaper The Guardian.

Stephan Uhrenbacher (founder of Qype and 9flats.com) and associates (including former BAA Group Retail Director and World Duty Free Group Chairman Brian Collie) built the App in order to make the airport a more intuitive and enjoyable experience for travellers. Global travel search site Skyscanner is serving as FLIO’s co-marketing launch sponsor.

Other central features of the App include exclusive offers and special discounts from retailers, airport information and the ability to book airport-related services.

More than 30 free airport Wi-Fi networks are currently supported, and this is set to rise to 200 airports within the next three months.
