GERMANY. Fraport Group today reported first-quarter results, with revenue from the Retail & Real Estate segment reaching €125.5 million, a rise of +2.3% year-on-year.

The increase was largely driven by higher real estate revenue with retail performance alone showing flat income year-on-year. Net retail revenue per passenger declined to €3.33 from €3.41 a year earlier due to weaker shopping revenue.

Passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport climbed by +2.3% to 12.7 million. The Iran war, weather-related cancellations and strike days in February and March all had a dampening effect on growth. Lower demand for Middle East travel was offset by growth in other regions, especially Asia Pacific. Passenger traffic across the group rose by +5.2% to 28.6 million.

Revenue across the group rose by +5.2% year-on-year to €853.4 million, EBITDA climbed +10.4% to €196 million while the company also posted a net loss of €33.1 million, primarily due to higher interest expenses and increased depreciation and amortisation.

These expenses rose following the completion of expansion projects in Lima and Antalya, resulting in an overall net profit decline of €6.7 million compared to the same period last year.

Fraport CEO Dr. Stefan Schulte said: “The Fraport Group is on track in the first quarter. Despite the outbreak of the Iran war, we saw growth across all our markets. In Frankfurt, declines in Middle East traffic were offset by growth in traffic to other regions, particularly to the Far East. For the full year, we are maintaining our forecast for 2026, supported in particular by recent statements from the German Government that jet fuel supplies are currently secure.”
