Furla gears up expansion after successful Cannes show

Italian accessories company Furla gained listings in 28 new locations at this year’s TFWA World Exhibition.

“It was the best show ever for the brand,” said Head of Travel Retail Gerry Munday. “We trebled the number of our appointments over last year and the response from buyers to the new collection was extremely positive.”

New business includes an exclusive listing onboard Emirates Airline from December 2011 for a small Nera Italian-made black nappa leather shoulder bag with chain, designed for day or evening use.

Furla’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection will be introduced to Antalya Airport Terminal 1 with Net Urart-Nuance, and Autumn/Winter 2012 will be additionally listed in T2. The Spring/Summer 12 range is also setting sail on Star Cruises via a new agreement with Valiram.

Active year in travel retail

Last month’s TFWA World Exhibition closed an active year for Furla in travel retail with refurbished shops opening at Milan Malpensa T1 Schengen with Dufrital; Turin via Sagat; Munich T2 with Eurotrade; and Beijing T3 with Sunrise.

“Next year we already have a number of multi-brand and personalised corners scheduled to open with operators including World Duty Free (East Midlands, Newcastle and Manchester T1 and T2), Gebr Heinemann (Oslo and Ekaterinburg Airports), CTC (Paphos Airport), Airest Collezioni (Glasgow Airport), and Duty Free Philippines (Fiesta Mall Complex),” continued Munday.

“We’ve also have a new opening confirmed with The Nuance Group, North America, for a shop-in-shop in Las Vegas T3. This will be for the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, which we’re very excited about. To now have another 28 probable listings on top of this, all from one week in Cannes, is just fantastic.”

Turning to 2012, Munday added: “We’re planning on exhibiting both at the IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas in Orlando as we continue to develop our Americas business, and of course TFWA Asia Pacific in Singapore.”
