BRAZIL. GRU Airport Aeroporto Internacional do São Paulo is bringing in new food & beverage outlets to liven up the landside commercial offer in Guarulhos Airport Terminals 1 and 2.
On 18 April GRU Airport opened a Brahma beer kiosk on the mezzanine floor of Terminal 2. The bar serves this famous local brew on tap, along with snacks.
Adjacent to the Brahma bar is Brigadeira, the colourful brand that retails Brazil’s beloved brigadeiro chocolate bonbons. Brigadeira opened at the start of April.
Tostex sandwiches and coffee is now occupying a previously unused space on the ground floor Departures level; a second Kopenhagen coffee and cake shop will soon open nearby.
Fast-food brand Carl’s Jr, introduced in November 2012 adjacent to the Check-in A area in Terminal 1, is reported to be performing strongly at São Paulo’s major airport.
New brands in the mezzanine food aisles, meanwhile, are Spoleto’s Italian foods and Tutti Frutti frozen yogurt, overlooking the landside Departures hall.
“This is the type of store that there wasn’t room for in the past, but the new management has optimised the space to deliver more services to passengers,” advises Commercial Director Fernando Sellos.
“We are providing more choice and a mix of local and international options for our customers.”
Further scope for F&B operators will open up in a food court being built above Dufry’s new duty free area in Terminal 2; negotiations are underway for offers to open through the course of the third quarter 2013.
