HDS Retail ASPAC CEO Scott Raisin expands the retailer’s already strong regional presence |
ASIA PACIFIC. HDS Retail Asia Pacific yesterday reached an agreement to purchase the A&R Whitcoulls Group travel retail businesses in Hong Kong and Australia, from A&R Whitcoulls Group Holdings Pty Limited.
The A&R Whitcoulls acquisition includes 10 stores in Hong Kong and five in Australia, all of which are currently branded WH Smith or Angus & Robertson. This acquisition will result in a re-branding of all stores.
HDS Retail Asia Pacific is part of international group Hachette Distribution Services – operators of the largest international network of travel retail outlets devoted to cultural and entertainment products.
Today, HDS Retail Asia Pacific operates 49 travel retail outlets in Australia and manages 10 stores at Singapore Changi Airport.
Retail brands of the Asia Pacific group already in the region include:
– NewsLink
– TimesNewsLink and Relay – books and press
– Hub – convenience
– Discover – regional food and wine
– Virgin – music, dvds and books
– Kaboom – children’s toys
A&R Whitcoulls Group travel division contains operations in Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand. A&R Whitcoulls Group will retain the New Zealand travel operations that form an integral part of A&R Whitcoulls New Zealand operations.
Pacific Equity Partners owns the A&R Whitcoulls Group, including the businesses of Angus & Robertson, Whitcoulls, Calendar Club and the travel division.
