Heavy snowfall freezes traffic at Schiphol in March – 03/05/05

NETHERLANDS. In March 2005, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol served just under 3.3 million passengers, which represents an increase of just +0.5% relative to March 2004.

Passenger volume growth was adversely affected by poor weather in the first week of the month. Many flights were cancelled, and fewer passengers travelled by air because of heavy snowfall. Both origin/destination and transfer passengers experienced serious disruption.

The number of passengers travelling in the first quarter experienced a year-on-year increase of +2.5% to 9.1 million.
