NETHERLANDS. Dutch beer giant Heineken is testing its newest product innovation, the BeerTender, on luxury cruise liner Silversea.
Heineken Duty Free & Travel Retail is supplying the BeerTender, which offers a premium quality draught beer onboard for the 382 guests.
The product, developed for regular use of draught beer at home, keeps the compact four-litre keg at the right temperature for three weeks after the first beer has been draughted. Due to the relatively small amount of draught beer sold onboard Silversea cruises, the Heineken BeerTender is described as the perfect solution.

For cruises with a larger capacity, Heineken Duty Free & Travel Retail offers Xtreme Draught, a portable draught system with 20-litre kegs or an inbuilt 30-litre system. Xtreme Draught has been placed on the MSC Opera and the entire fleet of Norwegian Cruise Line.
Heineken Duty Free & Travel Retail Global Account Manager Cruises Jan van Velzen said: “The placement of the Heineken BeerTender onboard matches with our strategy within the cruise segment to add value to both the customer, the consumer as well as to Heineken Duty Free & Travel Retail. This creates a `triple win’ situation.”
If the Silversea test is successful, Heineken Duty Free & Travel Retail will be rolling out BeerTenders worldwide on cruise liners throughout 2008.
