Images of the Day: Baltona reimagines retail space at Bydgoszcz Airport

Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

POLAND. Our latest selection of images comes courtesy of leading Polish travel retailer Baltona, which has completed the modernisation of its retail space at Bydgoszcz Airport with the refurbishment of two shops across 180sq m of space.

Baltona recently embarked on a major investment in its Polish airport store network, with a fresh look and feel for the key categories plus a strong emphasis on regional products. That approach is on glorious show at Bydgoszcz Airport.

Baltona has introduced the well-known, hand-decorated ceramics of Fajans Włocławski, considered an icon of local design and long-standing craft traditions, to its assortment.

The range of confectionery has also been expanded to include traditional Toruń gingerbread from famous producer Fabryka Cukiernicza Kopernik.

Baltona CEO Wojciech Czernek said, “We are delighted that, thanks to the excellent cooperation with the authorities of Bydgoszcz Airport, we have completed the modernisation of our shops in a short time, creating a modern and functional space tailored to the needs of passengers.

“We have focused on solutions that will not only significantly improve the shopping experience, but also allow travellers to enjoy the best regional products.”

The appealing store design and diverse offer leans heavily on regional sense of place

Baltona said the layout of the shops, designed in accordance with its sense of place concept, has been enriched with symbols and elements that lean on the traditions of the Kujawy and Pomerania regions. As a result, the company added, “the newly opened zone will become not only a convenient shopping destination for travellers, but also an extension of local hospitality”.

Bydgoszcz Airport CEO Monika Mejsner-Hermelin said: “Bydgoszcz Airport is systematically increasing the number of passengers it serves. We are pleased that our business partners recognise the airport’s development.

“Baltona’s investment is a clear sign of confidence in the potential of our airport. The modern, functional retail space and strong regional accent will make travellers more comfortable and their time spent in the terminal more enjoyable.”
