Our regular feature, brought to you in association with Duty Free Global from Ireland, celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.
UAE. Our latest image selection comes courtesy of Dubai Airports, which recently hosted a special edition of Dubai Mallathon, a government initiative that aims to turns indoor spaces into accessible walking and running routes.
Throughout August, Terminal 3 became an indoor walking environment where Dubai Airports teams, oneDXB partners, People of Determination (people with disabilities) and members of the public could connect and stay active. Our images show the verve and enthusiasm with which teams across the airport eco-system took to the initiative.
More than 2,900 people took part across weekly events at Terminal 3. As the first non-mall venue to host the citywide fitness initiative, Dubai Airports took the Dubai Mallathon into a new setting, spreading its message of active living at the world’s biggest international airport.

The programme culminated on 4 September with a special Emirati Women’s Day edition recognising the leadership, talent, and contributions of Emirati women across Dubai Airports, the oneDXB community and the wider aviation sector.
Dubai Airports Chief Operating Officer Majed Al Joker said: “The final event was a fitting conclusion to an initiative defined by the breadth of participation. Members of the public, Colleagues, airport partners, passengers and members of the wider oneDXB community all took part, showing how opportunities to stay active can be integrated naturally into both the working day and the guest experience. As the first non-mall venue to host the Dubai Mallathon, we are proud to have supported the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 by creating an inclusive way for people to move and connect.”
A programme of four events followed dedicated routes at Terminal 3 Departures and Concourse B, supported by registration points, route markers, hydration stations and participant medals. Concessionaires across the terminal also contributed offers and giveaways.
The Dubai Mallathon was launched in 2025 by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. ✈
