Lancôme’s Collection Voyage travels to Benghal – 11/02/07

FRANCE. L’Oréal Produits de Luxe International has officially unveiled the new travel retail exclusive fragrance from Lancôme. As previously reported, the scent – called Benghal – follows on from Tropiques as part of the brand’s Collection Voyage. It begins its global roll-out this month.

As its name suggests, the fragrance pays homage to India, capturing “the essence of an entire continent in a perfume bottle”, according to the company. It is described as a joyful patchwork of colours, fragrance and emotions.

The juice is a fruity floral, opening on notes of ginger and mandarin. The heart features jasmine and osmanthus; the base musk and sandalwood.

The face of the new fragrance is again Spanish-born model Inès Sastre, Lancôme’s house model for several years. In this instance, she has been transformed into an Indian beauty, clad in an embroidered pink sari.

The fragrance flacon is the same shape as that of Tropiques. But both the bottle and the outer carton feature a motif designed to evoke an Indian dancer, also dressed in a sparkling pink sari.

Benghal is available as a 50ml edt, priced at €40. There is also a 2 x 50ml duo, priced at €72.

The fragrance universe will be supported by two complementary colour items: a make-up palette (€32) and a Juicy Tubes Trio (€41) – both presented in corresponding packaging.

The three Juicy Tubes shades are Lychee, Pêche and Pamplemousse. The make-up palette includes a powder blusher, four powder eye shadows, one Rouge Absolu in shade Rose Cashmere, plus a selection of applicator brushes.
