The L’Essence de Courvoisier display at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport incorporates a simple etching of the Courvoisier decanter stopper with a viewport through which shoppers can watch a five-minute video |
Maxxium Travel Retail is raising the profile of L’Essence de Courvoisier Cognac among travellers at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with an innovative display in the new speciality store for premium luxury products in Departure Lounge 2.
The high-end, permanent presentation has been designed to capture the attention of travellers, while highlighting the history, quality and luxury status of L’Essence de Courvoisier, which was launched in European travel retail in 2009.
The display incorporates a simple etching of the Courvoisier decanter stopper with a viewport through which shoppers can watch a five-minute video that tells the story of L’Essence de Courvoisier.
The video takes the viewer through its development by master blender Jean-Marc Olivier, the history of Courvoisier and the creation of the handcrafted teardrop decanter by crystal house Baccarat.
The internal mirrors of the viewport can be manipulated to create a kaleidoscope effect, accentuating the connection between Courvoisier and Baccarat crystal.
A bottle of L’Essence de Courvoisier, which retails at €2,000, is concealed behind a simple outline of the crystal decanter and as shoppers approach the display, a movement sensor reveals the bottle fully lit in a jewellery case-style display.
Maxxium Travel Retail Managing Director Glen Williams said: “Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is one of the largest airport retailers in Europe, with a strong focus on showcasing and building luxury brands.
“In keeping with Courvoisier’s pioneering heritage, we have created something new and different for this exclusive luxury store which will attract consumers and educate them on the history and heritage of this elegant and complex Cognac.”
About Courvoisier
Founded in the early 19th Century, Courvoisier is considered a pioneer in the industry as it is the only Cognac to be awarded France’s highest honour for excellence – the Prestige de la France.
L’Essence de Courvoisier is a blend of more than 100 rare eaux-de-vie from the most exclusive Cognac crus, Grande Champagne and Borderies. At 42%abv, L’Essence de Courvoisier is described as a rich and full-bodied Cognac with hints of liquorice, dried plum and apricot, and offers a long finish.
In 2009, Jean-Marc Olivier retired after 22 years and was succeeded by Patrice Pinet as President and Master Blender of Courvoisier.
