Lima Airport Partners set for big expansion at Jorge Chavez International – 07/09/07

PERU. Lima Airport Partners is implementing a major commercial expansion at Jorge Chavez International Airport next year.

Head of Retail Fiorella Carty told The Moodie Report: “We will start construction in 2008. We are expanding both the international and national areas airside. We are talking about 2,000sq m of new areas for retail and food & beverage.”

Duty free – run by long-time concessionaire Aldeasa – will be expanded and new retailers added, including a multi-brand clothing store, handicrafts, silver and other specialist stores, plus a range of food & beverage. Arrivals duty free will be considerably enhanced said Commercial Director Jan Laufs.

“We’re going to add a marketplace in a new area from the beginning of next year and introduce a whole range of new shops in both the national and international areas,” he told The Moodie Report.

The expansion will maintain the airport’s strong tradition of Sense of Place with an improved destination merchandise offer while also boosting the international selection.

Lima Airport Partners has enjoyed extraordinary commercial success in recent years. Since 2004 the spend per passenger has risen by +85% to US$20.40. Non-aeronautical revenues rocketed by +20% in 2005, +18% in 2006 and are up +27% for the year to date.
