SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free is hosting an art exhibition featuring the works of American artist Austin Lee at the Lotte Museum of Art on the 7th floor of Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul.

Titled ‘Austin Lee: Passing Time’, the exhibit started on 26 September and is running until 31 December. It is exclusively open to Lotte Duty Free VIPs only.

This event is Lotte Duty Free’s first cultural event since the pandemic and is part of a programme designed to provide VIP customers with exclusive benefits and services.

The exhibit is Lee’s first solo presentation in South Korea and spotlights more than 50 of his works including paintings, sculptures and video works.

Renowned for his airbrush paintings that often combine digital technologies with traditional media, Lee has gained popularity among younger art enthusiasts in the country.

Lotte Duty Free is also offering guests a selection of food at the Star Lounge, a VIP customer facility. Attendees will receive a range of incentives including an additional KRW20,000 (US$15) in LDF Pay for purchases worth US$200 or more.

To boost its VIP marketing programme, the travel retailer will be launching a paid membership scheme called Young Travel Club for customers in their 20s and 30s.

The membership is limited to only 200 people on a first-come, first-served basis, with the first and second batches already sold out within just one week in September.

Members can receive a variety of benefits, including KRW100,000 (US$74) in LDF Pay, online and offline level upgrades, and the use of the Lotte Duty Free VIP Lounge.

Lotte Duty Free Head of Marketing Division Noh Jae-seung said: “This private exhibition viewing event for VIPs is a new concept cultural event that combines shopping and culture. We will continue to work harder to provide the highest level of benefits and services to Lotte Duty Free’s VIP customers.”

In August, Lotte Duty Free hosted a beauty masterclass with Japanese beauty brand DECORTÉ at the Star Lounge, with 80 VIP customers taking part in the event. The masterclass is being held every month in collaboration with different global cosmetics brands. ✈
