SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has launched a reusable bag featuring an English-language slogan to enhance its marketing appeal to international customers while advancing its sustainability goals.

The ‘Better Bag’ will be offered as a complimentary gift to international shoppers spending over US$150 at Lotte Duty Free’s Myeong-dong flagship in Seoul and other locations including World Tower (Seoul), Busan and Jeju.
The offer is limited to one bag per customer while supplies last, and the bags are not available for individual sale.
The initiative supports the company’s renewed marketing campaign, launched in April, which adopts a bilingual strategy to highlight the benefits of duty-free shopping.

The ‘Better Bag’ features the English slogan ‘It’s More Than Just a Bag, A Discount Coupon,’ echoing the campaign’s theme through both its name and concept.
Breaking from Lotte Duty Free’s signature red, the tote bag is offered in a bold seasonal green for a fresh, modern look.
An in-store coupon is attached to the bag, adding convenience and value for shoppers.
Made of lightweight tarpaulin, the bag is durable and practical for international tourists shopping at downtown stores.

More than a marketing initiative, the launch of the reusable bag reinforces the company’s commitment to ESG as a key business strategy.
As reported, the retailer relaunched its tarpaulin bags in late 2022, replacing single-use vinyl air caps in its duty-free packaging.
Lotte Duty Free’s switch to paper alternatives led to a notable -95% reduction in plastic bag usage in 2023 compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
In addition, the company is advancing its sustainability drive by adopting digital receipts to minimise in-store resource use.
Lotte Duty Free Head of Marketing Namgoong Pyo said: “The Better Bag giveaway is more than just a promotional gift– it’s part of our new marketing direction and designed to make shopping more enjoyable for our customers. We’ll continue to roll out fun and practical marketing initiatives in the future.” ✈
