UK. Luxury house Louis Vuitton is to open its first airport store in Europe – and only its second worldwide – at London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 in December.
The company will open a 200sq m outlet featuring a range of leathergoods, women’s ready to wear and shoes, fashion jewellery, sunglasses, accessories and fine jewellery & watches.
The opening is intrinsically linked to the work and influence of former Heathrow Retail Director Muriel Zingraff-Shariff, who played a key role in persuading the French luxury house that T5 could offer suitable space and market positioning. Zingraff-Shariff left the company earlier this year.
Louis Vuitton said the T5 store would be dedicated to the brand’s passion for travel, noting its commitment to “the art of travel” stretching back to its creation in 1854 – notably through iconic trunks and luggage.
The brand opened its first airport outlet with The Shilla Duty Free at Incheon International Airport in September 2011.
The announcement is an endorsement of both the retail environment and the global hub status of Heathrow T5. The terminal served 29.8 million passengers last year, with flights to 170 worldwide destinations.
