Three years of retail innovation: China Duty Free Group celebrated the third anniversary of its Haikou International Duty Free Shopping Complex in October with a festive, carnival-style shopping experience. Since opening in 2022 as the world’s largest duty-free store, the complex has evolved into a destination for shopping, dining, leisure and culture. New retail milestone: Shenzhen Duty Free Group has won the contract to manage the departures duty-free store at Guangzhou’s Pazhou-Hong Kong–Macau Passenger Ferry Terminal, a key cross-border transport hub. The terminal’s location, near the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and just two hours from Hong Kong International Airport, aligns with the retailer’s growth strategy across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Strategic beauty alliance: Kering and L’Oréal have agreed on a €4 billion deal for L’Oréal to take over the House of Creed and Kering’s licensed beauty and fragrance brands. The partnership, set to complete in the first half of 2026, features an exclusive wellness and longevity venture and royalty arrangements. Focus shifts to downtown store: Shinsegae Duty Free has decided to exit its DF2 concession at Incheon International Airport, covering perfumes, cosmetics, liquor and tobacco, with termination expected on 27 April 2026. The retailer will redirect its focus to its downtown Myeong-dong store and DF4 fashion and accessories operations to ensure sustainable growth.
