CAMBODIA. Today was a red-letter day in Cambodian aviation as the soft-opening of the fully refurbished passenger terminal at Sihanouk International Airport ceremony was celebrated.
Attending the event were the Secretary of State in charge of Civil Aviation; the Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province; Nicolas Notebaert, CEO of VINCI Concessions and President of VINCI Airports, the mother company of Cambodia Airports, the developer and operator of the Kingdom’s three international airports.

The extension and renovation of the terminal are part of an ambitious development programme scheduled to be rolled-out in anticipation of a strong traffic build-up in the coming five years.
In 2017, as a result of Sihanoukville becoming an increasingly popular sea destination, the airport reported a + 115% surge in passenger numbers to 338,000.

Besides many improvements to operational facilities, the changes include new food & beverage outlets operated by local and international brands such as The Monkey Republic, Blue Flight and Plaza Premium Lounge.
Another major project soon to be launched will extend the airport runway by 800 meters to 3.3 kilometers. Once completed, the airport will then be able accommodate on bigger aircraft and flights from more distant markets.
Praising the cooperation with Cambodian authorities, Notebaert said, “Today’s ceremony marking the commissioning of Sihanouk International Airport’s new terminal reflects the successful partnership between The Royal Government of Cambodia and VINCI Airports/Cambodia Airports.
“Thanks to this fruitful and trustful teamwork, we are actually taking a new step in our journey to develop Sihanoukville airport so that it contributes to unlocking the economic, touristic and social growth potential of the Kingdom’s entire seaside.”
