Oliva Cigars and CDFG advance China travel retail strategy with humidor installations at key airports

CHINA. Oliva Cigars, part of Vandermarliere Cigar Family (VCF), has teamed up with China Duty Free Group (CDFG) to launch branded humidors at Beijing Daxing and Shanghai Pudong international airports.

The initiative aligns with the company’s global retail expansion strategy in China, strengthening its focus on brand visibility, accessibility and premium positioning in key global hubs.

The Oliva Island Humidor is located in the departure hall of Beijing Daxing International Airport, featuring a refined selection of the brand’s signature cigars, highlighting Oliva’s craftsmanship and long-standing cigar-making tradition.

A sleek wall-bay humidor in Shanghai Pudong International Airport Terminal 2 offers travellers convenient access to the brand’s premium cigar selection.

At both locations, travellers can explore a rotating assortment of Oliva’s signature cigars, including the popular Serie V and Serie O, as well as exclusive limited editions developed for the Asian market.

VCF Global Travel Retail Coordinator Thomas Gryson said, “These humidors reflect our belief that travel retail should go beyond convenience – it should create a sense of discovery.

“By investing in engaging, brand-led spaces at the world’s busiest airports, we’re connecting with travellers at moments when they’re most receptive to quality and authenticity.”

VCF Export Manager Cagdas Cildir added, “We are happy to expand our presence and make our products more accessible through China Duty Free, where the appetite for premium cigars is growing rapidly.

“These new humidors are more than just retail points – they are brand experiences designed to engage discerning consumers in one of the world’s most important travel corridors.”

This latest expansion reinforces the company’s commitment to experiential retail across global duty free, building on the success of its exclusive four-pack channel editions launched earlier this year.

It also taps into the resurgence of travel in China, positioning Oliva to engage a wider audience while highlighting the brand’s signature cigar craftsmanship.
