CANADA. As it gears up for the 2009 TFWA World Exhibition in October, Peller Estates Icewine continues its award-winning streak with a haul of medals from recent wine competitions and several accolades from leading wine publications.
The company won two gold medals at the Los Angeles International Wine Competition 2009 – one for Peller Estates Oak Aged Icewine 2007 and the other for Peller Estates Riesling Icewine 2007 – and picked up a silver medal for its Peller Estates Ice Cuvée from the UK’s Decanter magazine.
Four silver medals were collected at the UK’s International Wine & Spirits Competition 2009 for Peller Estates Vidal Icewine 2007, Riesling Icewine 2007, Cabernet Franc Icewine 2007 and Oak Aged Icewine 2007.
In a further accolade, respected wine industry publication Wine Spectator awarded a score of 91 points to Peller Estates Oak Aged Icewine (15 June issue).
In other news, family-owned Peller Estates Icewine was the only Canadian winemaker to participate in a Harrods promotion titled “Famous Wine Family”, held in June at the London department store.
Also in June, Peller Estates Winery received a visit from celebrated Japanese jazz musician Sadao Watanabe, who was in Ontario to perform at the Toronto Jazz Festival.
