DENMARK. Duty free forms a minor part of Pilgrim’s business but the Danish jewellery supplier hopes this won’t be the case for long amid expansion plans in Asia Pacific. It will be exhibiting at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes next month.
“Our retail business is huge and duty free is only a minor part of it, but I expect that to change in the future,” Annette Moller Anderson, Pilgrim’s account manager for duty free, told The Moodie Report. “The 2003 show in Cannes was our first show with the duty free business. We are also expecting to try out the IAADFS fair in Florida next year.”
Asia Pacific is Pilgrim’s main target for the near future, she said. The brand is already listed on China Airlines and is available at duty free outlets in Bahrain International Airport, Singapore Changi Airport, Macau International Airport and Dubai International Airport.
Pilgrim is also available on Scandinavian carriers such as Maersk Airlines and Sterling Airlines, and also through Aer Rianta at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports.
Pilgrim’s market proposition to retailers is its contemporary take on jewellery designs. “Our designs always follow the fashion in general. The jewellery matches the clothes. As always, we will be using a lot of glass stones and our designs will be feminine and adventurous,” she said.
The company’s current portfolio of jewellery collection takes its cue from the vintage look – an autumn/winter comeback – now dominating the European and US high streets.
The company also provides a wide range of jewellery displays and shop-in-shop displays designed in-house for retailers and wholesalers. Anderson said: “We have our own team of designers making sure that we give our customers the best possibilities of showing our products.
“Gift boxes are provided together with each order if they want it. We see it as a great way of creating attention to jewellery, giving our customers a nice way of presenting it to the customers.”
Anderson said the flower series 285521 is doing very well in duty free, as well as the 293221, a trefoil hanging from a neck ring (see photos).
Pilgrim jewellery retails between €7 (US$8.70) and €200 (US$245). The company will exhibit at Stand J3 Red Village at TFWA in Cannes.
