Family-owned German chocolate company Rausch Plantagen-Schokoladen introduced its range of travel retail exclusive chocolates at the TFWA Asia Pacific fair in May 2013 as it begins to target buyers in the channel. Its presence in Singapore followed its first-ever travel retail trade show at the TFWA World Exhibition in October 2012.
The company’s premium, single-origin chocolate is aimed at connoisseurs. “It is not mass market but it is affordable – we call it democratic luxury,” Managing Director Joern Schumann, who joined the company four months ago, told The Moodie Report in Singapore.
Rausch aims to supply premium chocolates from the best plantations of fine flavour cocoas around the world. The company uses single-origin fine flavour cocoa for each variety.
“Our tailored range guarantees you the ability to fulfil every chocolate desire, whether as an impulsive purchase, for yourself or as a gift,” Schumann said.
Speaking about the company’s plans to strengthen its export business, Schumann continued: “We are strong on the German market and we export to 31 countries. We have seen our export business grow in Asia, the Middle East and America in recent years.”
Turning to the travel retail channel, he explained: “We started in travel retail at the Cannes show in October 2012 with our domestic range. We have now developed a travel retail range of three products.”
The following travel retail exclusive products are produced under the World of Chocolates banner:
Small bites: A mixed pack of 32 small bites, weighing 6.7g each. They are packed in an attractive mini hessian-style cocoa bag tied with string. The mix of premium whole milk and fine dark chocolates are made from eight different fine flavour cocoas.
Sticks: Also available in a travel-friendly format are eight chocolate sticks, 40g each, in various recipes and packed in a wooden cylinder.
Bars: Rausch offers a high quality wooden gift box containing a mix of eight bars, 50g each, made from fine flavour cocoas from eight countries. The pack is said to reveal the full range of fine flavour cocoa in a single set.
