Retailers and suppliers pledge support as Incredible India seminar takes shape – 25/07/07

INDIA. Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has announced that over 30 high-profile speakers are lined up to appear at the second Indian duty free conference – dubbed “˜Incredible India’ – on 18-20 September.

These will include key government officials as well as representatives from the South Asian Associations of Regional Cooperation countries, the Tourist Board of India and airlines serving India.

The growth will be exponential and unforgiving. Industry partners with India in their sights will reap the rewards.

Building on last year’s inaugural success, the organisers promise an “educational, interactive, insightful and entertaining” few days at New Delhi’s Radisson Hotel.

Along with the Tax Free World Association, key retailers and suppliers have already pledged their support and participation at the event, which will be moderated by APTRA board members and “trade press personalities”, APTRA said.

“We have all been expecting the rapid rise and change for many years,” said APTRA President Sunil Tuli, “but it’s the speed at which the travel retail and duty free retail environment is moving which has taken many by surprise. This growth will be exponential and unforgiving.

“Industry partners with India in their sights will reap the rewards. Ironically, the more the industry focuses on India, the greater the anticipated growth for all stakeholders; but it is the brands and retailers who get in first who are likely to benefit most from the insatiable, changing, Indian consumers’ needs”.
