UK. London St Pancras International railway station is re-launching The Grand Terrace tomorrow (12 July) as part of a revamp of its upper concourse. To mark the occasion, celebrations will include entertainment and promotional offers on food and drinks.
The Grand Terrace features Victorian architecture and the vast Barlow Shed roof, providing a unique back-drop for the food & beverage and retail brands that occupy the space. F&B outlets include The Betjeman Arms, Carluccios and Searcys Grand Brasserie and Champagne Bar – Europeʼs longest champagne bar, which is also being re-launched following an extensive refurbishment.
“When the station first opened in 1868, it offered travellers the grandest entrance to the capital, and The Grand Terrace continues this great tradition,” said station operator High Speed 1 Ltd Head of Revenue Development Wendy Spinks. “Today, St Pancras is still the grandest of all railway arrivals into London and so much more – the perfect place to celebrate, meet friends or simply relax and enjoy the stunning view.”

According to the station operator, retailers on The Grand Terrace perform consistently well. The Betjeman Arms pub sells 1,400 pints of Betjeman Ale beer every week and it is one of the top-three Geronimo Inns pubs in the UK. At Searcys Champagne Bar up to 1,000 glasses of sparkling wine are consumed every day, and the success of the St Pancras bar has led to Searcys opening outlets in several other locations.
Food & beverage promotions will run from 12-16 July. They will feature two courses for £16 and three courses for £20 at The Betjeman Arms; a free bottle of wine when two dine at Carluccios; while Searcys has created a ʻGrand Terrace Charmʼ cocktail which will be available on a two-for-the price-of-one deal.
The Gilbert Scott restaurant at the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel is offering one competition winner a three-course lunch for two at the famous Marcus Wareing restaurant (The Berkeley).
Entertainment on 12 July will include a grand piano performance, starting at 7am for commuters and ending at 5pm – the longest continuous piano recital ever conducted at a UK railway station. Further free music gigs will take place in the Arcade commercial zone after 5pm.
Visit the St Pancras website for full details of the programme of events.
