The Estée Lauder Companies strengthens travel retail leadership with senior appointments

The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has announced two senior appointments within its travel retail business.

Lina Ly will join the organisation on 25 August as Senior Vice President, Travel Retail, Asia-Pacific (APAC). In her new role, Ly will oversee business leads, brand team and supporting functions for the APAC travel retail business. She will be based in Singapore and report directly to ELC Senior Vice President/General Manager, Travel Retail Worldwide Olivier Dubos.

Ly brings two decades of leadership experience with prestige and luxury brands to her new role. Most recently, she served as L’OCCITANE Group Managing Director Asia Pacific. Her international career has been predominantly anchored in the Asia Pacific region, including 12 years in China, with a strong track record in digital transformation, cultural development and driving sustainability initiatives.

Ly’s previous leadership positions include Decléor Paris and Carita USA General Manager; L’Oréal Luxury Division General Manager Hong Kong; Lancôme Travel Retail Asia Pacific General Manager and Chanel China Fragrances and Beauty Division General Manager.

In a concurrent development, Umair Ansari has assumed an expanded remit as Senior Vice President, Travel Retail EMEA and Americas, effective 1 July.

Ansari, who is based in London, will continue reporting to Dubos. Over his 21-year tenure with The Estée Lauder Companies, Ansari has held a series of progressive leadership positions spanning strategy, brand management, value chain and general management across global markets.

He has led the EMEA travel retail region with a focus on sales acceleration, transformation initiatives and team development in his current role.

With this expanded responsibility, Ansari will now oversee both the EMEA and Americas travel retail businesses. His broad experience, deep industry knowledge and commitment to talent development are expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of ELC’s global travel retail strategy.
