As part of our pioneering information-sharing agreement with leading Chinese consumer platform Globuy, a selection of our stories with key Moodie Davitt brand partners appears on Globuy’s weekly ‘Duty Free News Flash’ column.
Globuy aims to become “the KOL of Chinese travel retail” and already has 400,000 followers and a monthly audience of 1 million views for its WeChat social media platform promoting new launches, product availability, promotions and special offers.
This week, Globuy’s Duty Free News Flash began by sharing our story on YSL Travel Retail and JATCo’s (Japan Airport Terminal Co) spectacular aviation-themed animation at Tokyo Haneda Airport. The first-of-its-kind installation will run until the end of January.

As reported, the ‘All Hours Airport’ pop-up highlights the L’Oréal-owned beauty brand’s new All Hours Cushion Foundation, which offers a lightweight and hydrating long-wear formula. The pop-up features a life-sized aircraft-inspired design and takes travelling shoppers on an immersive journey which offers playful phygital elements. This includes a first-class makeup cabin, a destination flip board and a golden light-tunnel.

The Duty Free News Flash continued with our report on DFS Group’s spectacular Lunar New Year 2020 line-up. To welcome the Year of the Rat in style, the retailer has launched a series of promotions, exclusive offers and activities at downtown T Galleria and airport stores worldwide. The programme kicked off in early January and will run until 16 February.

As reported, DFS is hosting a range of activities for customers to experience local traditions celebrating Lunar New Year. These vary by location and include lion dances, live music performances and gifting through a personalised Spring Couplet in-store, as well as various promotions and exclusive offers. The retailer is also offering exclusives products from Tiffany & Co, Clinique, Tom Ford, Moncler and Prada.

Globuy also reported on Lancôme’s new Valentine’s Day lipstick sets, which were launched exclusively with The Shilla Duty Free on 15 January. As reported, the L’Absolu Rouge Valentine’s Day Limited Edition Lipstick Sets feature the brand’s popular 196 ‘Carrot Red’ and 274 ‘Milk Tea’ lipstick shades in Matte, Ruby Cream and Lacquer finishes.
Globuy also reviewed Flowerbormb in the Sky by Viktor&Rolf, the latest fragrance from L’Oréal Travel Retail. As reported, the limited-edition fragrance, which is exclusive to travel retail, will be previewed in the UK in February before its roll-out in other regions.
Flowerbomb in The Sky was inspired by the world of hot-air ballooning. It offers a sense of place through celebrating the landscapes and landmarks of each city where the fragrance will be featured.
It was created by IFF Senior Perfumer Domitille Michalon-Bertier, who was one of the three noses behind the original Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf.

This week’s Duty Free News Flash concludes with our story on Edrington Global Travel Retail and Dubai Duty Free’s The Macallan Concept Number 2 launch at DXB (Dubai International Airport). As reported, The Macallan Concept Number 2 is the second release in the travel retail-exclusive Concept Series, which fuses The Macallan’s whisky making with innovative art, music and culture.
It takes inspiration from the similarities in the creative approaches of crafting whisky and music and brings together The Macallan Whisky Maker Steven Bremner’s two passions: whisky and house music. It has featured since December at Dubai Duty Free stores at DXB Concourses A and D.
