US airport first as Kathy Casey’s Shot Bar opens at Seattle-Tacoma International

USA. A new pop-up concept named Shot Bar – a quick-serve counter for alcoholic drinks – has been opened by celebrity chef Kathy Casey at her Rel’Lish Burger Lounge in Concourse B of Seattle-Tacoma (Sea-Tac) International Airport. It is billed as the first concept of its kind to open at a US airport.

At the bar’s to-go counter, passengers waiting for a table at Rel’Lish or those on the move can order from a menu of chilled spirits, including tequilas, vodkas and whiskies. The menu features Hornitos Crystalino Tequila, Ketel One Botanical Cucumber & Mint, Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, and local Northwest favourite Heritage Brown Sugar Bourbon.

Kathy Casey told The Moodie Davitt Report that she has introduced the new bar partly in response to the seating restrictions in place in US airport restaurants

The dining tenants at Sea-Tac International are currently limited to a restaurant occupancy of just 25%, under COVID-19 restrictions. Casey said: “Limited seats are available for passengers to have a cocktail at the airport due to physical distancing protocols, but the interest from travellers for adult libations remains high.”

She added: “Shot Bar addresses that in a fun and pioneering way. Plus, there’s nothing more fun than a quick shot to kick off vacation. Shot Bar offers a fast and safe solution to serve today’s traveller during the pandemic. The Port of Seattle is paving the way for us to lead with new ideas, and we’re grateful for their support.”

The beverages are served in two-ounce versions of red solo cups, which are well-known throughout the US

Sea-Tac International Airport Director of Commercial Management Dawn Hunter said: “The next time you visit our airport the experience looks and feels different, including in how you dine, imbibe, and shop. 2020 was difficult for our airport and the businesses here due to the pandemic and its impacts on travel. It is exciting to embrace innovations like Shot Bar to continue to create positive experiences for travellers during their journey.”

Aside from Rel’Lish Burger Lounge, Kathy Casey runs two other food & beverage locations at Sea-Tac International, in the shape of Lucky Louie Fish Shack (Central Terminal) and Dish D’Lish (Concourse C).
