WIT raised over €1,000 to help children with cleft palates |
SINGAPORE. Over 30 women met in Singapore on Sunday for the first Asia Pacific gathering of Women in Travel (WIT), *writes Anouska Forte of Travel Retail Business. A key feature of the meeting was a raffle arranged by event sponsors MCM, which raised well over €1,000 for The Smile Train charity which aids children in developing countries by providing surgery to correct cleft palates.
These funds, said MCM Travel Retail Director Gerry Munday, were enough to pay for the treatment of six children.
The lucky winner of a red MCM handbag was Winnie Luk from Shanghai Tang. Two bracelets from Reflecta were raffled as runner-up prizes, won by Cornelia Maeder from Lindt and Imagination Unlimited International’s Beverly Walker-Johansson.
Hugo Boss Head of Travel Retail Nadine Heubel, who helped bring the charity to the attention of the travel retail industry, thanked all who attended for their support and reminded them that there would be an important event taking place on 5 October in Hong Kong, with all profits going to The Smile Train.
If anyone, or their company, is interested in supporting this event, please e-mail Martin Moodie at Martin@TheMoodieReport.com or Nadine Heubel at Nadine_Heubel@hugoboss.com.
NOTE: The Moodie Report thanks Anouska Forte, Travel Retail Business and the TFWA Asia Pacific dailies for this article – and for their support of the 5 October dinner.
