BAHRAIN. The final countdown is on for the opening of the spectacular new Passenger Terminal Building at Bahrain International Airport on 28 January. The new terminal has capacity for 14 million passengers a year.
Last week anchor retailer Bahrain Duty Free Shops presented the new brand identity of the joint venture company that the travel retailer is managing at the new terminal (see video clip below).
Bahrain Duty Free Shops CEO Bassam Al Wardi described the impending opening as “a new landmark in travel retail”.
Bahrain Duty Free will run core category duty free and airside speciality retail stores. Retail space is set to increase to around 4,800sq m, more than tripling the existing 1,500sq m.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain announced the opening date during a tour of the facility earlier this month.
