MALAYSIA. Malaysia Airports (Niaga), better known as Eraman Malaysia, has donated RM3,000 to a local children’s home and held a celebration at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to mark National Day.

More than 55 children from the home, called Lembaga Pengurusan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Miskim (PAYASUM), joined in the fun.

The company also donated RM1,800 to MAKNA in support of the organisation’s initiative to raise funds by organising the Charity Duck Race Kuala Lumpur 2005.

“Remembering the less fortunate during this celebration, we hope that this small contribution will provide some aid to those in need,” said Eraman Malaysia CEO Syed Ahmad Syed Salimf.

Eraman Malaysia, in collaboration with the local radio station Red 104.9, organised a “Proud To Be Malaysian” Hi-Tea which was held in the main terminal at KLIA “to share the joy and spirit of patriotism with travellers and the many other airports users”, said the company.

“As a corporate citizen, Eraman Malaysia takes this opportunity to share the feeling of “˜Proud to be Malaysian’ with all airport users and travellers in KLIA,” added Syed Ahmad Syed Salim.

A “Proud To Be Malaysian” contest was conducted in which callers into the radio station with the password “Eraman Malaysia – Proud To Be Malaysian” were eligible to participate. Callers were then asked to express the meaning of National Day. Winners won hampers worth RM100 each.

The “Proud To Be Malaysian” Hi-Tea was launched by the Eraman Culture Club Choir with the presentation of the national anthem “Negaraku”, “Jalur Gemilang”, “Keranamu Malaysia” and “Nyalakan Tekad”.

Guests were entertained by local artists such as Misha Omar, Sharifah Zarina, Saiful and Dina from Malaysian Idol, Khadeeja, Erema, Xerra, Ruffedge and Roslan Shah. The crowd was also given a special treat by Dewi Yull from Indonesia. The audience were thrilled with the performance by Jeff Timmons, who sang with Areniza.

“Younger generations should be thankful to our all leaders both past and present because without their commitment and dedication we would not be here today,” emphasised Syed Ahmad Syed Salim. “They need to be constantly reminded of the need to safeguard the nation in order to continue to enjoy the freedom they have had all this while.”
