iCoupon and Lagardère Travel Retail extend digital voucher redemption alliance

INTERNATIONAL. iCoupon has strengthened its long-standing relationship with Lagardère Travel Retail through a new group agreement, extending a partnership that already supports digital airline voucher management in airport and rail station food & beverage venues across 13 countries.

The agreement formalises an alliance built over several years of operational use and reflects Lagardère Travel Retail’s continued investment in a single digital platform to manage airline disruption vouchers across its international network.

The expanded partnership comes as airlines, airports and travel retailers increasingly seek to simplify voucher management and standardise operational processes across multiple markets.

Traditional airline paper vouchers and virtual credit card payments often require retailers to validate vouchers, reconcile transactions, manually process card details and manage airline billing, creating complexity that can vary between airports and countries.

By adopting the iCoupon platform, Lagardère Travel Retail has established a more consistent approach to airline voucher redemption and management while reducing administrative burden for its operational teams, iCoupon noted.

iCoupon CEO Richard Bye said: “What makes this agreement particularly significant is that Lagardère Travel Retail already knows our platform inside out.

“This is not a new customer trialling iCoupon; they have been using the system successfully across 13 countries for several years and have now chosen to deepen the relationship through a group agreement.

The expanded collaboration lays the foundation for future passenger engagement and promotional initiatives across Lagardère Travel Retail’s food & beverage estate. Pictured is Lagardère Travel Retail’s Manga Sushi concession at Frankfurt Airport.

“We see that as a powerful endorsement of the value the platform delivers every day.

“More importantly, this agreement opens the door to a new phase of collaboration focused on passenger-facing services across the Lagardère Travel Retail estate.

“iCoupon is uniquely positioned as the trusted intermediary between airlines and retailers, enabling both parties to create new ancillary revenue opportunities without the need to share customer data.

“Historically, exchanging data between airlines and retailers – particularly across multiple markets – has been a major obstacle to delivering joined-up passenger offers.

“Our platform removes that barrier by acting as a GDPR-compliant intermediary, using the boarding pass as the digital vehicle to deliver promotions and other forms of value directly to passengers.

“That makes redemption simple for travellers while creating incremental revenue opportunities for both airlines and retailers.”

Looking ahead, the companies said the agreement creates a platform for wider collaboration beyond airline disruption management, including passenger promotions and engagement initiatives across the Lagardère Travel Retail estate.

Lagardère Travel Retail POS Director Nicolas Platiau said: “This expanded group agreement is a natural next step in the evolution of our technical infrastructure.

“Standardising on a single platform for airline voucher management allows us to reduce complexity, strengthen data security and build a more resilient foundation across our network.

“It also positions us well to support new use cases, like promotions and passenger engagement, as the platform continues to evolve alongside our business.”

iCoupon now operates a global network connecting more than 190 airline partners issuing vouchers through its platform, supporting over one billion passengers annually. Read our recent story on passing that landmark number here. ‍
