SOUTH KOREA. Lotte Duty Free has rolled out a seasonal shopping campaign targeting both Korean and international travellers during the peak holiday period of Chuseok and China’s Golden Week.
Running through September and October, the ‘Luxury in Fall’ campaign is designed to capture heightened demand as Koreans plan overseas trips during the extended Chuseok holiday. The period stretches from the National Foundation Day on 3 October through the 11-12 October weekend.
The promotion also coincides with China’s weeklong National Day holiday (1-7 October), when a surge in Chinese visitor traffic is anticipated.
To drive footfall and spending, the retailer has prepared exclusive promotions at its downtown locations, including LDF Pay giveaways and prize draws.
To help offset unfavourable exchange rates, Lotte Duty Free is offering special LDF Pay rewards until 31 October. Shoppers can earn up to KRW1.51 million (US$1,085) on weekdays and up to KRW1.69 million (US$1,214) on weekends, depending on the payment method used.
Customers at the Myeongdong flagship and World Tower stores in Seoul and Jeju location can enjoy promotions on purchases in fashion, watches and jewellery, while the Busan store is extending promotions to all categories.
In addition, Korean customers who spend more than US$300 at downtown stores during the promotional period will be eligible to enter a prize draw. Rewards include a dinh van Menottes cord bracelet for the first-prize winner; KRW50,000 (US$36) in LDF pay for three second-prize winners (three winners); and a Lotte Hotel Basque cheesecake for five third-prize winners.
For international customers, Lotte Duty Free has partnered with WeChat Pay and other platforms to roll out special promotions. Until 31 October, shoppers can receive two types of discount coupons, redeemable at both Lotte Duty Free and 7-Eleven.
Shoppers spending over CNY350 (US$49) with WeChat Pay at Lotte Duty Free will receive an immediate CNY50 (US$7) discount, while those spending more than CNY35 (US$5) at 7-Eleven will receive a CNY7 (US$1) discount.

Until 30 September, international shoppers using Alipay at downtown stores can earn LDF Pay rewards of up to KRW150,000 (US$107) on weekdays and up to KRW300,000 (US$215) on weekends, depending on purchase amount.
At the Jeju store, international customers using WeChat Pay through the end of September will receive up to KRW100,000 (US$72) LDF Pay with purchases over US$150.
Lotte Duty Free is extending benefits to passengers presenting a Batik Air Malaysia boarding pass, who can claim a Gold membership upgrade along with discount coupons until 31 August 2026.
The retailer noted it intends to build stronger partnerships with Southeast Asian airlines, online travel agencies and local companies to capture rising demand from the region’s outbound travellers.
A Lotte Duty Free representative said: “We have prepared a variety of promotions for customers planning overseas trips during this year’s golden holiday season. We will continue to make efforts to provide highly satisfying shopping experiences to our customers.” ✈
