Qatar Duty Free launches Chinese New Year campaign at Hamad International

QATAR. Qatar Duty Free is celebrating Chinese New Year with special promotions and activities at a Chinese-themed pavilion in Hamad International Airport (HIA). The initiative began on 11 January and will run until 28 February.

Staff in traditional dress will hand out discount vouchers to passengers

Located behind the teddy bear structure in HIA’s departures hall, the specially built 180sq m pavilion offers a variety of activities with staff dressed in traditional costume for the duration of the festival.

Qatar Duty Free shop assistants will be issuing all passengers transiting and departing through HIA during the Chinese New Year period with an 8% discount gift voucher. This can be used in the Chinese pavilion on categories including fragrances, skincare, confectionery, luxury watches, gifts and souvenirs.

Other promotions will run in conjunction with this special offer, which provides passengers travelling through the airport with access to a wide variety of duty free products.

Guests who make a purchase of QR1,000 (US$274) and above using a UnionPay payment card will receive a traditional Chinese envelope containing a QR100 (USD$27) Qatar Duty Free gift voucher.

Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Keith Hunter said: “Chinese New Year is a very important cultural event that Qatar Duty Free likes to celebrate every year with enticing promotions and discounts. Following our move to Hamad International Airport, we now have the opportunity to take our activity to a new level by constructing a 180sq m Chinese-themed pavilion and offering an even wider range of products, promotions and typical Chinese activities such as traditional tea tasting.”
